Start on a high …

Hello there, welcome!

I am an avid reader of other people’s blogs, but I’ve never really considered my life to be very blog-worthy.  However, I have decided that it is time to stop lurking on the sidelines and take the plunge, so these are my first tentative steps into the world of blogging.

For my opening post, I’m sharing news of an achievement of which I’m very proud. Having already successfully completed the City & Guilds Level 3 certificate in Hand Knit Textiles, I was thrilled to be awarded the coveted C&G Medal for Excellence earlier this year.  The medal was designed in 1880 and has remained largely unchanged since.  The back bears the City & Guilds Award Seal, with the Coat of Arms of the Corporation of the City of London in the centre, surrounded by the Coats of Arms of the 16 Livery Companies who were the original founders of City & Guilds.  It is a beautiful (and heavy!) piece of craftsmanship.  I received the medal at the V&A last Saturday, in the company of C&G tutors and fellow students past and present.  It was a wonderful, memorable day.

All Medal for Excellence winners are also eligible for the Lion Awards, which will be presented at Capel Manor College in July.  The People’s Choice category is open to public voting, so please check out my profile and vote for me if you can!
